Caryn Michaeli, Principal
Ms. Michaeli talks down to staff, curses at/about staff, discusses staff to other staff members, claims to have Tourette’s syndrome, claims to be Black so she can put down an entire race without repercussions, writes false information on observations depending on whether or not she likes a person, lies about classroom positions and makes positions appear to be ongoing when there are visitors in the school even if certain teachers are not placed in their assigned positions, intimidates staff on a regular basis, does not abide by contract and constantly texts/calls staff outside or work hours and expects staff to complete excessive work outside of contractual work hours, has had over 50 investigations and brags about getting away with it all to staff members. Has a recording device on a pen that she gives staff when it comes time quality review-staff members go into the meeting with this pen so that Ms. Michaeli can hear everything that was said. The amount of staff members she’s lost in 5 years alone speaks volumes of her and her lack of leadership. Unfortunately her current staff is too afraid to speak up regarding the narcissistic abuse they experience on a daily basis.
“Caryn Michaeli observed me multiple times and wrote down false information on my observations because she did not like that my co-teacher and I stood up for ourselves. I have witnessed her verbally abuse her APs, as well as classroom educators. She forces outdated teaching techniques on her staff and writes up educators that do not follow I do, we do, you do.
Ms. Michaeli brags about having dozens of investigations against her all while creating a stressful environment for everyone in the building. Her staff members complain to one another about how she makes them feel on a personal level; for example, when a coworkers grandfather passed away, Ms. Michaeli asked how old he was and when she heard the grandfather was 80, she responded “That’s what happens at that age” with no regard for the educators feelings.
Ms. Michaeli belittles her staff. She sets unrealistic expectations for staff and uses fear as a means to control them. Everyone is afraid of her and her power. She is manipulative and creates an extremely uncomfortable working environment. “
