This is a bad principal. He pretends to be nice in the meeting but along with him is the crooked chapter leader kevin yuhas, they are forcing new teachers that violate the uft contract

Kabinoff, AP Kwong and Chin, and Chapter Leader Kevin Yuhas are notorious for forcing teachers to give students high grades even thought students do minimal works. To please the parents, they will pressure teachers to give students 100. This is a shame for such a high quality school.

IEP teachers are supposed to be in the class to support students with IEP. However, under Kabinoff and AP Kwong directives, IEP teachers are taken out of the classroom to grade an internal exam. They violate the law, cheat tax payers’ money and disservice students with special needs. The school deserve a new admin team that will do the right thing. Kevin Yuhas is Kabinoff’s pawn. Kevin would also pressure teachers to comply with Kabinoff’s abusive agenda. Kabinoff and Kwong purposely give teachers a bad evaluation ratings, warning letters, and call in multiple meetings to intimidate and abuse teachers. The speech teacher in the library is admin’s spy. She will report and snitch on you. They have more spies in the buildings. Teachers must stick together to drive out this abusive administration.

Terrible leadership all around. Kabinoff may sound nice to everyone, but watch your back.

This comment is directed towards AP Kwong. She is very bias and gives teachers evaluation ratings based on how she feels like she can point out for no apparent reasoning. There was a time when she wrote one teacher up who hosted a pizza party in the cafeteria at the end of the school year without any further explanation. If a teacher even try to retaliate & speak up, the next day she would informally observe a teacher out of nowhere. Some friction among staffs and AP.
In terms of discipline, discipline is very poor, no actions are taken because this would indeed make the school statistics look bad to the public. Overall, just very toxic.

This whole school is run under nepotism. Jeremy Kabinoff is a crook who hires his friends to help him make his staff miserable. This year he hired another corrupt staff member in Chris Fuchs the newest AP. Chris is Jeremy’s friend. Chris’s girlfriend is one of the teachers in the school as well and is allowed to do whatever she wants. Jeremy’s children also go to the school which is a conflict of interest. They both talk poorly to their staff and treat them like garbage unless you bow down to them blindly. You can’t have your own opinion or sense of self otherwise the insecure men in charge of the school get scared. The union knows of all of this and nothing as been done. At this point, nothing will change. There is so much more to be said…

The people writing on here are ineffective and have been following blindly a dean who should have retired a century ago. The principal is excellent and the school is one of the best in the city. We have so many students applying that we never have to worry about funding or being excessed. This is due to great leadership, amazing teachers, staff and supportive parents. Kabinoff has always been fair and is beyond experienced as opposed to these principals coming out of leadership academy’s. Kabinoff was a deputy superintendent and knows how to run one school when he was managing 100s in the past.

Had the displeasure of being under Kabinoff’s regime at his old school, JHS 144 in the Bronx. Where to begin. Nepotism, especially in the AP positions, where he put his incompetent, feckless, drug addled friends positions of power. Corporal punishment of students, by announcing the names of failing students over the PA system, and would use the cameras to spot students doing the wrong thing, then announce that on the PA in realtime. Ageism, as in constantly complaining during meetings that the school co-habituating the building with us has a low payroll due to the experience levels of the teachers, and then, miraculously, he does everything he can to drive out the experienced teachers. Using teacher ratings to cull the staff, as in giving unsatisfactory ratings to teachers, and then bargaining to change them if they agreed to seek employment elsewhere. Using students and other staff members as spies against the staff, getting his info at secret “special” lunches in his office. Outright threats and bullying, as in holding impromptu staff meetings to scream at us about the amount of kids that were failing, and telling us that if we didn’t change the grades, that the school would get low ratings, which would cause the school to be shut down, at which point we’d need new jobs that he wouldn’t recommend us for, and then, if teachers didn’t give in, changing student grades anyway without consulting said teachers. And to top it off, after multiple complaints to the DOE, having a BS, predetermined outcome “Investigation” done in which he got to choose his own coached, bribed, and/or threatened witnesses. I can go on. Yeah, JHS 144 was basically like a fascist regime under Kabinoff. My sincere sympathies to the staff at at PS 184.

Very corrupted! White superiority is shown

Kabinoff is an amazing boss and leaves teachers alone who do their jobs and follow their contract. People screaming white supremacy clearly got it wrong when Meisha Porter got the job that belonged to him and then took credit for his work. You can’t cry racism for everything especially at an Asian dominated school. Whoever is complaining should work elsewhere if they truly feel Kabinoff is this awful. A reality check is what they need when they step outside of our amazing school and go into the battle grounds of parents who hate you; kids who will physically attack you and bosses that look to drive you crazy. I’ll take Jeremy hiring some friends over a principal who micromanages every little thing. If you’re than unhappy my advice is to leave and go be an ineffective teacher elsewhere.
